The recruitment process has changed slightly in recent years. One of these updates has been using online profiles and other technological tools to improve the process. In this context, Social Media can be a great way to complement your profile on the NCSA platform and show your skills.

We share some tips from our ally NCSA to use Social Media during your recruitment process:

1. Check the rules: The rules on the use of social networks during recruitment vary from one division to another, especially in the NCAA. There are deadlines for contact between the coach and the athletes. In some cases, the coach cannot be in touch with athletes before they have committed to the college athletic program. There are also regulations on "sharing", or "liking" posts. It is important to know the rules that regulate the Social Media contact. This should not  interfere with your recruitment process.

2. Follow the athletic programs and colleges in which you are interested: Be updated with team’s news and valuable information for your recruitment process. In this way, you can get in touch with the community and the fans to know how they support the team.

It is also important to know the technical staff, assistants and managers of the sports department; they will surely post key information on their Social Media accounts.

3. Show your talent in your account: Your Social Media accounts are a good channel to show the things that interest you related to the sport you are passionate about: news, motivation phrases. But, mainly, you can show your life as student-athlete: training, games, school events, your achievements, your participation in events such as camps , showcases and try outs. Avoid using inappropriate or discriminatory language. Take care that your user is also as respectful as possible and can be easily identified.

4. Do not allow others to post inappropriate content on your profile: Other people may post on your profile, or tag you in publications that may have a negative impact on your image on Social Media. Constantly monitor your profile and the content that your friends share related with you.

Even if you do not get in touch in this way, it is likely that many coaches check your Social Media accounts, because they can know you better. It's important to maintain a good profile that shows a good image of you and highlights your academic and athletic skills.
