NCSA’s recruiting guidelines are designed to show men’s golf recruits exactly what college golf coaches are looking for. Knowing where you stand among other golf recruits can help you find schools suited for your level of ability, and can help make the recruiting process a lot easier.Knowledge is an extremely important tool in the golf recruiting process. Use NCSA’s golf recruiting guidelines to find out as much as you can about golf scholarships and how to earn one.
Tier 1: High Division I
- Stats: Handicap: Scratch or better, 18 Hole Average: 72 or under
- NCSA Expert Notes: On average, the NCSA men’s golfers that have moved on to compete at the next level had a handicap of (1), an 18-hole average of (72.5), and a grade point average of (3.37). These student-athletes also competed in national tournaments such as AJGA, FCWT, and USGA, along with state and local tournaments.
Tier 2: Low Division I
- Stats: Handicap: Equal to or < 1, 18 Hole Average: 73 or under
Tier 3: Division II & Top NAIA
- Stats: Handicap: Equal to or < 2, 18 Hole Average: 74 or under
- NCSA Expert Notes: Some DII coaches require DI standards. Some NAIA coaches require DI standards.
Tier 4: Division III & Low NAIA
- Stats: Handicap: Equal to or < 3, 18 Hole Average: 75 or under
- NCSA Expert Notes: Some DIII coaches require DI standards. Some NAIA coaches require DI standards
